Guude takes a First Look at Minecraft for Windows 10

So a few hours ago, Minecraft lets-player Guude released a video of him trying out Minecraft for Windows 10 at Minecon. Guude tried out the various features and speed of the next version of Pocket Edition on a Microsoft Surface Tablet.

Throughout the video you can see several of the upcoming features for pocket edition, including the nether, different kinds of boats dependent on the wood you use to craft them, controller support, and potions.

Take a look and tell us what you think about this next version of Pocket and Windows 10 edition.

  1. this is exactly what I was HOPING they would do with the JAVA version of minecraft. it isn't a completely ridiculous idea to have communication between a C# program and a java program.

I don't think we need this new version of minecraft. In fact, I think this new version of minecraft is very, very bad. it will steal attention from the most advanced version of the game. you know... the one that can be modded, the one that can be made to use shaders. the one that has decent support for skins and resource packs, the one with bukkit. you know which edition I'm talking about?
PC edition. the big one. the original one. the one with the most features.
THAT is what they need to be working on right now.

  2. 1. They have multiple teams working on multiple versions of the game. Just because they're working on one project doesn't mean they're not working on another; the whole point of teams is to get multiple things done simultaneously

    2. Pocket edition is VERY moddable. I've added several mods to my iPhone copy of Pocket edition VIA Cydia. It's not as diverse as the Android mods and PC mods are, but that doesn't mean it can't change.

    3. The java version, to put it lightly, stinks. What you see in that video above would've not been possible with the java version of Minecraft, because of that surface's specs, the game would have to have been all set on low for Guude to have been able to play it with a decent framerate. You can even hear Guude and the other Mindcrackers behind him exclaim in delight at how fast the game runs compared to the slow Java version.

  3. This seems really cool! Whether it replaces PC version in the future or not I'm still excited to play this version and I hope it does well! It would be really cool if it was able to support multiplayer like pc edition in the future, like servers and things like that.
