Minecraft: Wii U Edition is probably coming tomorrow

Well, this is certainly a surprise. Pan European Game Information, more commonly known as PEGI, is the Europe's primary video game rating system (very much like America's ESRB). Why is this important? Because they just low-key revealed Minecraft for the Wii U, and it's being released tomorrow.

Today, PEGI uploaded a rating for the upcoming Minecraft: Wii U Edition on their ratings index. The game is listed as 'Minecraft WiiU Edition', released by Microsoft Studios (although we assume is being developed by 4J Studios, along with all the other console editions).

The game is rated 7+ for 'Non realistic looking violence towards fantasy characters', 'Pictures or sounds likely to be scary to young children', and finally 'Non realistic looking violence towards characters which although human are not very detailed'. For those interested, PEGI's lowest rating is 3+, which they assigned to the Game of the Year contestant "Barbie and Her Sisters Puppy Rescue" just before publishing the rating for Minecraft Wii U Edition.

Nintendo is scheduled to have another 'Nintendo Direct' online presentation tomorrow, where they usually discuss or announce games for the Wii U and 3DS. If I had to guess, I would say Minecraft Wii U Edition will be formally announced at the presentation tomorrow and released shortly afterwards.

It's likely Minecraft Wii U Edition will be only available on the Nintendo 3Shop at first, and then release physical versions afterwards.

  1. Even though I don't have a Wii U, I'm awfully curious on how they'll take advantage of the controller screen on the console. :)
