Reviews of Minecraft 1.0 trickle in

Now that Minecraft is out of beta, reviews by professional gaming sites have begun to trickle in. Notch has shared on Twitter that he is very impressed by the reviews (even wanting to hug them).

One of the sites that reviewed Minecraft was Wired UK. Granted, the site is not specifically about gaming, but it still had some nice words to say. The site said, "So should you buy Minecraft? Yes. If you don't, you're missing out on a real fairytale of indie videogames -- of the triumph of one guy, an open design process and meticulous editing over the hundred-strong teams, focus groups and secrecy used in the development of triple-A titles." However, the site did point out that the game requires constant access to 'third-party information sources' (such as minecraftwiki.net) and the End isn't quite done yet.

1UP also reviewed the game saying, "Minecraft is a binary proposition for pretty much everyone: It's either the game that has kept you awake into the wee hours of the morning as you searched for ore and flowers to crush into dyes to color the wool you needed to make your 100-meter tall pixel art recreation of the Dark Side of the Moon album cover, or it's that ugly, boring thing that your weird friend keeps trying to get you to play even though you've told him a million times that it sucks and will you please get your stupid ass back on MW3 for chrissake." Mr. Sharkley finished up by saying, "Meanwhile, Minecraft, with all its flaws and quirks, has already joined Super Mario Brothers, Wolfenstein 3D, and Tetris in the pantheon of games that prototyped an entire genre. No, it's not perfect, but you just don't give a game like that anything less than our highest score."

Mr. Miozzi from GameFront had this to say, "Now that it’s become a cultural phenomenon, Minecraft is something many people who haven’t played the game scoff at and deride. I was a skeptic myself; my first experience with the game soured me to it, but over the years, as I saw the majestic creations Minecraft made possible, I grew to respect the game. Given its low price, I encourage everyone to at least give the game a try. Rekindle that spark of imagination you had as a little boy or girl playing with Legos; you can spend hours a day in Minecraft’s blocky world, and ultimately, whatever you create, you’ll feel a sense of pride and accomplishment that no number of FPS headshots or RPG level-ups can bring."

Obviously if I were to sum up every review on the internet, Blogger would blow up like a Mother Creeper. So I recommend searching Google for the latest ones since almost every site is doing it. Now, where did I put my inflatable pickaxe?
