Minecraft 1.0.1 has been in the works for a few weeks now, so it should come to no one's surprise that a new pre-release is available. Minecraft Forum reports that there are no new major features, but a few small ones. First off, farmland can not be destroyed by simply walking on it anymore (thank God), you can only destroy it by jumping on it. Mobs can't destroy it either (unless a Creeper blows up, of course). Also new is that apples have a one in two hundred chance of being dropped from trees, among a few more additions and new bugs (like being able to place sugar cane underwater).
