Jeb adds Jungle biome, new mobs will come soon

Well how about this? Jens Bergensten, the lead developer for Minecraft at Mojang, has just added a new biome: the jungle. It obviously looks like a forest biome combined with a swamp biome. This new biome will be included in today's Minecraft Weekly Snapshot, so you can play under the trees. Perhaps the most interesting fact that Jeb shared was that he will add jungle mobs to the game eventually. Sounds awesome, right?

  3. I'm not sure about this. I'll either have to make yet another world (I went through this for 1.8, and then 1.1!), or get all the terrain to regenerate. Hmph.

  4. Aha! Post from jeb on reddit about the whole terrain regeneration thing:

    Hey

If you really want the jungles in your 1.1 worlds, you can trick the game to use the new generator by editing the level.dat file with a NBT editor.

The game looks for the tag called "generatorName", and if it's "default" it will also check "generatorVersion" (if it's available). If the version is 0, it will replace the generator with "default_1_1" instead of "default" to switch to the old generator.

To keep the new generator, change "generatorName" to "default" again and set "generatorVersion" to 1. Please note that this will mess up the whole biome randomizer, so it may start snowing in your desert if you're unlucky.
