The new light block that was released in the Minecraft Snapshot from earlier today now has it's own article on Minecraft Wiki. The block's recipie are four Redstone Dust items on the middle top, middle left, middle right, and middle bottom and one glowstone block. To keep them glowing you will need a power source, such as a redstone torch. It seems unnecessary, since you have to have a glowstone block to make it, which requires no power. This block seems like a leftover of the lantern block that was supposed to replace torches in the Halloween Update.

I'm quite happy for this, glowstone quaulity light that's redstone compatible. I impressed, although it was a long wait.
