Minecraft Mod API being developed, called 'Workbench'

We all know that the Mod API won't make it to 1.3, but 1.3 includes many important changes that will help make it work. Today the first commit (permanent addition) to the Mod API was pushed by Mojang developer "Dinnerbone" (Nathan Adams). The code is very minimal, showing few details of importance. They are authoring the plugin with Eclipse, a Java development environment. Also, the working name of the Mod API is 'Workbench'. Some of the code is at the link below.
