Official Minecraft bug tracker now live, based on Bukkit bug tracker

Tomorrow Mojang will release the anticipated Minecraft 1.4, what better time to release a bug tracker! The Minecraft Bug Tracker, in a sentence, allows players to submit bugs to be reviewed. If the problem is deemed a bug and not a feature (e.g. - slimes appearing in swamps, this is in the 1.4 release and is a feature), it is taken to Mojang's team of developers to locate and fix the glitch.

In the article, Mojang explains how most bug trackers are meant for programmers to use and not gamers, and thus it was hard to find one that was powerful and easy to use. They continued with, "Enter Atlassian’s JIRA, their answer to issue trackers. Having used it extensively and successfully for the Bukkit project, I was fully aware of how powerful JIRA was. As such, it was a clear place for us to start evaluating the options we had and we quickly found out how flexible and customisable, as well as powerful, it was after some tinkering. With JIRA, we feel that we’re able to achieve the important balance we need that provides the community with the right tools to properly manage and report bugs, while continuing to be easy to use." The article then goes on to say that Atlassian helped adapt JIRA to Mojang's needs, and thus the Minecraft bug tracker was born.

Currently, the bug tracker only accepts bugs in the Minecraft 1.4 Pre-release. If you have found a glitch in this version, we would kindly ask you to do us all a favor and submit it.
