Minecraft Pi Edition unleveled at Minecon, play Minecraft on your $25 PC

If you haven't heard anything about it, the Raspberry Pi is a $25 computer-on-a-chip with a USB port, HDMI for connecting to the TV, headphone port, and a composite port for connecting to older TV sets. The Raspberry Pi was created to help children learn to program, but it's become this year's most hackable device. Everything from a media center to Chrome has been ported to the iPod-sized device, and now Minecraft has come. It turns out a few months ago the Raspberry Pi foundation (the organization manufacturing the Pi's) sent a few demo units to Mojang, and have been working on a port of Minecraft Pocket Edition since. But why are they porting Pocket Edition instead of the desktop version? Well, the Raspberry Pi has the same processor chip as Android phones, the ARM chip. Thus, it would require less work. Mojang said,

"The possibilities are massive. You could organise the cheapest LAN party of all time, or use the Pi to learn the fundamentals of programming on a minuscule budget. It’s like hacking your way into Minecraft and modifying the game world with code, a bit like being Notch, Jeb, or Nathan, but arguably more fun and less stressful."
