New sky rendering coming in Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.5.1, limited to newer devices

Until know the skies of Minecraft Pocket Edition have been grey or blue, but no longer! Johan Bernhardsson from Mojang shared this screenshot earlier today with the caption, "New fancy sky rendering for 0.5.1. Limited to faster phones for now." It's unclear what phones he means by this as he did not give a specific meaning. It's safe to say that the iPhone 4 and Tegra 2/3 Android devices will make the cut, but anyone using an iPhone 3GS or Tegra 1/ARMv7 Android device might not see the light of day (see what I did there?). This is just our estimation, but we will update this article when more specific details are available.

  1. Will the normal kindle fire work?

  2. Why not? the iphone 4 is single core, kindle fire is dual core.

  3. What about samsung galaxy tablet?

  4. Not the original, but some of the newer ones yes. I don't think Mojang would drop support for one of the most popular tablet lines on the market.

  5. I think they should add the ability to toggle this on or off so older devices can be used.

  10. You are not an employee of Mojang, even though you signed up for DISQUS with their email. Shut up please.

  11. Likely, I don't think they would drop support for one of the most popular tablets on the market right now.

  13. You might be able to use chest shop and set the ID to 387. If that doesn't work this plugin might (but it hasn't been updated for 1.4): http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/1-3-copybooks-copy-the-written-books.72713/
