Did you know Jeb is working on Minecraft Pocket Edition too? Well today he posted the screenshot above on Twitter, revealing the work on stairs and slabs he has done in the game. But looking at clues off the center of the screenshot reveal clues that Jeb didn't mention directly. First, the stairs in the right side look as if they are Sandstone, Stone, and two new blocks that appear to be Nether Brick and possibly Marble. So we can assume that Nether Bricks and Marble (as well as their stair/slab equivalents) are coming in the next update. A third change is the the touch arrow controls, which are smaller and less rounded. This could mean more GUI changes are coming as well. This is only what we can piece together from one screenshot, but it's still extremely promising.
Update: Another tweet from Jeb reveled three types of Marble, Stone Bricks, and Sandstone coming to Pocket Edition as creative-only items.

Sweet, Minecraft PE just keeps on growing and growing!
ReplyDeleteyeah, since jeb started workin' on it! :D
ReplyDeleteYay! I can't wait for the update! The stair corners are connected! This bodes well!
ReplyDeleteCheers for jeb!
What they need to add is Minable redstone and all of the stuff that can be crafted with redstone
ReplyDeleteGod, just call minecraft jebcraft already. I SAY GIVE US NOTCH!!!
ReplyDeletehey everybody!
ReplyDeleteYeah since Jeb realized Survival Craft was annihilating MPE and that nobody really liked MPE because the PC version was way better
ReplyDeletetrue
ReplyDeleteminecraft is just not the same without it
SurvivalCraft is in no way hurting Minecraft PE sales. It is far behind Minecraft PE in the Top Paid categories of the Android Market and Apple App Store. People like/enjoy Minecraft PE because it is the official version and not a clone.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with that is that Redstone devices would cause an enormous amount of game lag that most phones/tablets can't handle at the moment (it's one of the reasons you need 1 GB of RAM and an i3 or higher to play the desktop version).
ReplyDeleteNotch left Minecraft development to work on 0x10c and other projects.
ReplyDeleteIt's not marble, it's quartz blocks
ReplyDeleteapologies, I realize my mistake
ReplyDeleteOh famous Corbin :P LOLZ
xD
ReplyDeleteWhat! only that? the Iphone/Ipod/Ipad has an A5 processor AND 1GB or RAM (possibly 2), Minecraft on desktop should require 1.5 GB of RAM anyway, thats how much it allocates on my computer. The main problem I would see is memory, a single world is at least 50MB, they really need to reformat how the game reads data and get it the same as the PC.
ReplyDeleteBut that's the latest generation of Apple devices. Keep in mind that tablets and phones from last year had around 512 MB of RAM and an ARMv7 processor. Even devices as new as the iPad 2 only have 512 MB of RAM.
ReplyDeleteI DONT CARE GIVE US NOTCH
ReplyDeleteawsome
