Mojang denies Minecraft becoming online-only game, will add support for offline play in 1.6

mcThere is one feature noticably missing from the new Minecraft launcher - an offline mode option. Many have speculated that Minecraft is moving to an 'always online' mode similar to Electronic Art's SimCity 5. However, as noted in bold red words, the launcher is still in development and has not yet been adapted for offline use. Nathan Adams, one of the main developers of Minecraft said, "he launcher is still in a testing phase, and the "Play Offline" option simply hasn't been added to the menu yet. It is coming in future launcher updates, and will remain a core feature of the launcher." So there you have it, offline mode is most certainly not going away anytime soon.

  1. Well I for one, am glad they're still continuing to support offline gameplay. Multiplayer is awesome, but there is nothing like the feeling of near-death-by-creeper, and knowing there is no one coming to save you.

  2. I think what it means by offline is not single player, but like when the servers are down and it says "log in failed" and you have the choice to quit or play offline.

  3. No, offline is when you got no internet and you got the choice to play offline since you dont got an internet connection. (To play multiplayer you need a internet connection)
