We've had the same logo ever since we started our website in 2011, and I've been wanting to redesign it for a while now. I didn't think that a block textured by someone at Mojang should be our logo, I wanted to make my own. I thought the old logo was too 'noisy', it had too many colors. So everywhere that Redstone was visible on the block, I replaced it with a simple white color. The three dimensional figure is still visible in the new logo, but there is no border. I like the logo, but do you? Let us know if we should keep it!

I really don't feel like this captures the theme of Powered by Redstone at all, I mean, that could be anything, diamond, iron, gold, even coal.
ReplyDeleteI really don't feel like this captures the feel of Powered by Redstone, I mean, it could be anything, Diamonds, Gold, Iron......Coal.
ReplyDeleteI like it, it looks newer and more simple. :) And it was added on my birthday. But I have to agree, maybe add some red so it doesn't look like diamonds, or iron, of coal or gold.
ReplyDeleteI don't like it because Powered By Redstone is the name of the website. The icon looks more like powered by clouds. The redstone ore is what makes your website distinguishable and unique. I like the old icon much better.
ReplyDeleteum thats not redstone, the name of the site is "POWERED BY REDSTONE" so maybe find a more apropriate logo. it looks nice, but doesn't go with site name
ReplyDeleteIt's ok, but it doesn't really go with the name "Powered By Redstone"...And it kinda looks like quarts...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutly not. It doesn't resemble your site. Something that relates to Redstone would be better. Maybe a group of rocks colored red with electricity bolts coming off them?
ReplyDeleteIt looks interesting, in the way how it has the feel of something in the third dimension, but it has two main drawbacks:
ReplyDelete1) It can resemble a 2d object if looked at blankly
2) It can represent coal, diamond, gold ore as well as Redstone, It needs a bit of red in it, in my opinion
lol
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's just not redstone. Why not something like a piece of redstone dust? Or mabe a torch lighting up a sign saying Powered By and then a redstone dust. I dunno but at first I thought this was a joke but then I noticed it was may lol. And besides this is still a Mojang (R) design.
ReplyDeleteIf youre gonna update the logo update the chrome app logo too.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else. This really just doesn't seem to fit the blog properly. It seems a bit...awkward.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like an epic idea
ReplyDeletejust change the white to red and I think it will look much better :D
ReplyDeleteThe alternative would be to make a custom texture pack, and use the redstone ore texture you create and also I think Nova could use something to make it more unique,
ReplyDeleteWe were thinking something like that :D
ReplyDeletePretty cool!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking you could have a trail of redstone powering something like a computer or lightbulb
ReplyDeleteLeave it like it is, with the white and all. But add the border of the block in a red. and border the white with red too.
ReplyDeleteHere's what I was talking about.
ReplyDeleteLike so?
ReplyDeleteLike this? - The red parts coming off from the white is translucent, and the background is clear
ReplyDeleteYup pretty much! That's way better than mine lol
ReplyDeleteThis just doesn't look cool. The old logo was better. You need some red in there.
ReplyDeleteOh my god that looks amazing. If I were to change the websites logo i would change it to a better version of the sparking Redstone. not that that's not good its just that it could be way better.
ReplyDeleteIm thinking some or all of the redstone should be changed too red but keep it 2dish.
ReplyDeleteI think that with slightly better resolution should be the new logo.
ReplyDeleteI think you should keep it, but make the 'white' 'red'
ReplyDeleteI could try adding some sparks.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Asianinja's post? I like that person's idea too.
ReplyDeletePlease remove this and you're kinda stealing my logo that i made a couple of months ago
ReplyDeleteThanks.
ReplyDeletethe logo doesn't match the blog and it should look like a logo mot a white speckeld page error (no offence Corbin)
ReplyDeleteI can't help but to feel it's a bit ambiguous... Maybe it should be red instead of white? I love it though! Very simple and unassuming :)
ReplyDeleteActually it could use some text as well, but other than that looks great
ReplyDeleteuse red along with the white, i like the idea though
ReplyDeletesorry if this spamming annoys u
ReplyDeleteimbored
ReplyDeletehi
ReplyDeleteskepter's is cool
ReplyDeletei like the no stone on the redstone though
ReplyDeleteLike Asianinja's post if you want to change it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Skepter for creating a mental picture of my "definition" of a logo!
ReplyDeletewhat?
ReplyDeleteCould you have ''powered by redstone'' spelled in redstone dust with an interactive lever that when flicked ''powers'' the dust lighting up the logo?
ReplyDeleteYa what?
ReplyDeleteHow do you change your profile picture on here?
ReplyDeleteYou can go to disqus.com and in the top-right corner pick Edit Profile.
ReplyDeleteProbably don't need any more ideas...but what the heck: how about keepting the logo as you have it now (white on black, no border) but add a pure red "explosion" behind it. That would get the color red back in as well as give the cube some definition; finally, it communicates the idea of "power/electricity" somewhat. Just my $0.02. Cool to get all the feedback.
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree with everybody. It is cool and all, but it would make more sense to change the white into a glowing red. That would look better. White doesn't fit it. I'll help work on it if need be.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteThat would be cool.
ReplyDeleteI think that should be the logo but just scrap the border and it will have the same feel of simplicity as the current logo and captures the power of redstone :D
ReplyDeleteHey check out my comment's reply by Skepter! The one with "The red parts coming off from the white is translucent, and the background is clear."
ReplyDeleteAnd as Spencer B. said, better resolution, and I think it would look great!! Thanks so much Skepter, Spencer B., and Tglvg11!
ReplyDeleteSo technically, something like this: http://i.imgur.com/UFThFbO.png
