Texture Packs Coming to Minecraft for the Xbox 360!

4J Studios, the Minecraft for Xbox development team, has confirmed that texture packs will be supported in the next version of Minecraft for Xbox 360 (TU12). How texture packs will be implemented and whether they will support PC texture packs is still unknown. If the Xbox edition did support PC texture packs, this would instantly bring more of an identical feel for players that both play on the Xbox and use custom textures on the PC. However the problem lies in getting the texture pack installed. Do they have to be downloaded and put onto a flash drive for installation somehow? Or will they have to be downloaded from Xbox Live meaning 4J would have to accept texture packs and upload them to Xbox Live as DLC? I guess we wait until 4J either announces how it works, or for the update itself. Either way, texture pack fans will be able to enjoy custom textures on their Xbox.

  1. Only thing I'm worried about is if the texture packs will be free. because skins, even though they cost very little, you still need Microsoft points to get. If they do that, the creators would need some commission I believe, because texturepacks are free. Otherwise If they don't give some form of commission i have no idea what they (4J, mojang, and Microsoft) are thinking.

  3. I reckon, 4J will just pick out the most popular Texture Packs, or ones that stand out, or refer to the communities vote.
