Minecraft 1.6, Entitled the Horse Update, Has Been Released!

2013-07-01_10.18.49

The long awaited Horse Update has arrived, bringing of course horses (With the help of DrZhark) and many other changes of which I will cover briefly. This update also brings:

A new launcher: Please update to the new launcher to use MC 1.6.1, because it is designed to not use the old one. If you use a custom launcher, see my last post.
Horses: Horses can be equipped with armor and a saddle after being tamed, and are controlled with the mouse.
Texture Packs: Texture packs are no more! They must be converted to resource packs, which can also change sounds and font. Mojang provides a converter for old packs.
Regional Mob Difficulty: The longer you stay in an area, the harder they get. This of course, has a cap.
New Custom Map Capabilities: Items may be given attributes that can apply potion effects, or affect the item/player in other ways such as a quick-draw bow.
New Potion Effects:
Health Boost gives the player two extra hearts which are removed when it runs out.
Absorption gives the player two extra hearts that cannot be regenerated, but they are not taken away
Saturation makes the player's hunger deteriorate slower
Respiration Enchant: the respiration enchant now makes it more visible underwater
New Storage Block: Coal Blocks can be crafted like other storage blocks to reduce inventory space
Villagers: Now have sounds
Zombies: Can spawn other zombies when not looked at
Spiders: Can have potion effects
Deserts: No more lakes!
Nether Fortresses: Loot chests!

That is most of the additions/changes in 1.6, now remember to use the new launcher (if possible) to get this update. Have fun guys!

  2. I don't actually think they're going to add city biome, cars, etc. The game would lose a lot of fun.

  3. Like David said, the soul of Minecraft (starting out with nothing and building up) is going to stay the same. Guns and cars likely won't ever come, unless it was in a mod.

  4. I'd think it would be cool if villagers started out in Minecraft with nothing and were capable of building villages. Certain villages would be built more efficiently than others and some villages would already be built. The only problem would be how villagers would build in flatland worlds. Hmm...

  8. What's wrong with lakes in deserts? It's an oasis.

If they do not spawn in peaceful, would they de-spawn by switching to peaceful? I should check this out.
