Petition on Change.org to resell all Mojang 2013 tickets, many unable to attend due to Eventbrite errors
Recently tickets for Minecon 2013 went on sale in three batches. Each batch of tickets was sold on a different day, and each batch contained 2,500 individual tickets. This time around, Mojang used online ticket seller Eventbrite to sell tickets for the Minecon 2013 event. However, it seems that eventbrite was far from the best choice for possible attendees. The site suffered from loading problems, crashing, and locked hundreds out due to other errors. Even two of our authors, Kendall Morris and Timothy Oltjenbruns, attempted to buy tickets and were locked out after claiming a ticket.A petition has been started on change.org to resell all tickets for Minecon 2013 on a different event hosting website, due to the countless errors the Eventbrite encountered. The Minecraft community is enormous, and the effect of thousands of people reloading the event page to get a ticket has about the same effect as a brute-force attack by a hacker. The petition states:
I personally live in Tampa FL, only an hour away from Orlando. For all of 3 batches we had waited an hour beforehand practicing our clicking and refreshing skills. None of that mattered because the Eventbrite Website could not handle the amount of people trying to purchase tickets. On all three batches we had chosen two tickets and pressed order now within 3 seconds. The Eventbrite website told me that great minds think alike. Then it had said the tickets are unavailable. This process didn't work and was completely unfair.
If you were unable to get a ticket due to problems with Eventbrite, we strongly recommend you (digitally) sign the petition at the source link below. If enough people sign it, Mojang may come to a better solution.

Yeah, this was a very disappointing turnout. Many people are disappointed with the outcome of the ticket sales, and Mojang has yet to make a comment about the ticket system or even about the final sales of Minecon. Its obviously a very touchy topic. Whatever they say its going to get heavy criticism.
ReplyDeleteI am so dissapointed, I waited on the page on all 3 batches, and got "in line" about 6 times. All of those times I got the same error. What a bunch of crap.

Their were no errors, most of the fans are just too sad that they didn't get tickets.
ReplyDeleteMojang will not re-sell the tickets, thats simply not fair to the lucky 7500 who got a ticket. I personally got 3 tickets, and I would be furious if they took that away from me. time to grow up guys, you don't always get what you want in life.
While most people are complaining simply because they didn't get a ticket, many did buy a ticket and were pushed out by Eventbrite. Those are the ones that should also have tickets. But, like I said, I don't think there's a way to please both parties in this situation.
