While the PlayStation 4 is selling out across the world, we are still in the dark about Minecraft for PlayStation consoles. Luckily, from time to time various bits of information about the ports are announced. Today I took a look at Jeb's comment history on Reddit, and I found something interesting. A user on Reddit asked "How does the PS Vita version fit in with the MCPE version? Will there be code shared between he two projects as they will both be on similar spec hardware?" Jeb replied with:
I replied to this question elsewhere... Short answer is that the Vita will use the code base for consoles, and not from Pocket Edition.

Whether the PS Vita Edition will be based on existing code by 4J Studios or be developed alongside Pocket Edition has been a mystery until now. Unfortunately there is still no screenshots of any PlayStation port (the above picture is a concept by us, not a real picture) exists and both Mojang and 4J Studios have been quiet about the ports. Minecraft for the PlayStation 4 was supposed to be a launch title, but was pushed back for unknown reasons. While we wait for more information about Minecraft for PlayStation, you can check out the source link for Jeb's comment.
