Minecraft Snapshot 14w02b released, first Minecraft 1.8 snapshot

The Mojang team is back from vacation, and the first Minecraft 1.8 snapshot and the first snapshot of 2014 is here! Snapshot 14w02b has arrived, and it packs lots of awesome additions to our favorite game. The biggest improvements include three new stone types, stackable doors, major enchantment and anvils, a recipie for mossy stone bricks in suvival, improved villager trading, slime blocks, and much much more.

The snapshot is available in the launcher, just make a new profile, click Edit Profile, and check "Enable experimental development snapshots." You can take a look at the original blog post by Mojang below. And remember you can always check when the next version of Minecraft is coming out on the right side of the page (or bottom if you are on mobile).

  2. I saw sethbling tweet that there was a new snapshot last night. I was wondering "All ready?" but it has been a while since 1.7 so I guess it makes sense. I wonder what they will call this update, the "Improvement update?" (since the improvements to survival and adventure) any ways it is always exciting to see a new snapshot and new items, and now slime blocks! What is next, bone blocks?!

  3. Maybe they'll have the modding and plugin API by 2.0 or 1.9

  4. Yah, I can't wait for that, then we won't have to wait for forge to update their version, which took forever for 1.7.2
