Redstone Builders: The Visual Check Test

AnimatedBowWe all know that Minecraft PvP is nothing more than a click on your enemy, or a held click to draw back your bow, but there is more strategy involved. Every time I find myself in combat, I use the visual check test. This test is a very simple way to match your skills and weapons against your enemy's.

Step 1: LOOK at your opponent. Do you see armor? Swords? Bows? Potions? Whatever your opponent is holding or wearing gives you a good signal on whether to run or fight. Note that some enemies will put their armor and weapons in their inventory to pretend they are harmless, but when you come closer, they will speed click their armor and weapons into place.

Step 2: EXAMINE your opponent's surroundings, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Note if they have a potion effect surrounding them, and whether it is harmful or helpful. A good rule of thumb is that lighter, cooler colors (like light blue) are good potion effects, and darker colors (like dark brown or red) are harmful potion effects. Notice whether your opponent is on fire, or has arrows in them. If they have arrows in them, they recently took damage, and may be easier to kill. Do they prefer their sword, their potions, or their bow? Use this to your advantage. Also, if they are in a group of PvPers that are well equipped, your chances of winning are slim.

  1. Also when you're engaging them in combat spam both buttons so you have a chance to block when they hit you

  2. When fighting an opponent head on, move around them. It confuses your enemy and makes it difficult to land a hit on you. (This is also known as sword strafing)

  4. Well, I only do that if I want people calling me a noob, since the only people I know who do that are noobs. Plus, block hitting is just a way of getting around learning to do it the right way.

  5. I usually find that a good technique with any fighter (Monster or player) is to run at him, whack him as many times as possible, and retreat and wait for him to come at you. If he doesn't and starts running, then he is likely weak and I can chase him or use a ranged weapon. Also, if you see a person in inventory or a chest (like in survival/ hunger games) then you can deal enough damage before he notices to weaken him. One more good technique is to corner your opponent. That makes escape impossible and you can whack him as many times as needed. Sorry for the long comment :/
