Introducing Piston, the successor to NOVA

Untitled-1Four days ago we asked you, our readers, if you wanted to see NOVA return. NOVA was the name of our modpack for Minecraft, which was designed to be a lightweight alternative to vanilla Minecraft. Today we are proud to announce Piston, the successor to our NOVA modpack. Not everything is set in stone, and we would love your input in the comments on what you think needs to be changed.

  1. Minecraft, but better: Piston is designed not to be a completely different game, nearly unrecognizable from Minecraft (like Tekkit). Piston is being developed to be Minecraft, but better. You can join vanilla Minecraft servers with Piston, and even share worlds between vanilla and Piston without breaking the file. Piston uses mods that improve upon Minecraft (inventory mods, graphics changes, etc), not change it.

  2. Automated Builds: Piston's most unique feature is that updates for Piston are completely automated, meaning no interaction on our part is required to make an update. Every once and a while (maybe even every night), our computers will automatically download the latest mods and put them together into an update. In a world where most modpacks take weeks or months to be updated, Piston will be the most frequently updated modpack ever.

  3. One interface to rule them all: Mods usually don't look like normal Minecraft buttons and elements, sometimes they look like they shouldn't be in Minecraft. With Piston, all mods will share a common design created by us.

While we can't say what mods we will include in Piston when it's first released, but we can say that Piston will be far better than NOVA ever was. You can expect much more to be revealed soon as we develop Piston into a fully featured modpack. Check back for news about Piston!
