Minecraft Pocket Edition has been delayed twice, but it looks like we won't have to wait much longer. Today Tommaso said on Twitter, "To tweet something MCPE-related: we still have a couple of nasty crashes, but if we manage to fix them, next week could be THE week. For the Android snapshot I mean."
Before the release of 0.8.0, Mojang did a beta test for Android users. The purpose of the beta test was to get MCPE 0.8.0 working on all major Android devices before release, and it proved to be successful. Now it looks like the betas for 0.9.0 are coming next week.
Minecraft PE betas are only available for Android devices with the Google Play store. The developers have said repeatedly that betas for iOS or Kindle are not possible, due to the App Stores for those devices not supporting developer betas. Although for the Kindle, it should be possible to sideload the APK from another Android device with the beta.
When the betas are released, we will post instructions on how to join and receive the beta. Until then, see the source link for the original tweet.

WHAT THAT MEANS THE UPDATE IS EVEN CLOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust to make things clear, the beta is different from the real-deal for the iOS users. Right?
ReplyDeleteThe beta will likely start off as extremely buggy (if the last beta test showed anything), but should progress to a stable game near release.
ReplyDeleteYes! Finally. Unfortunately I'm a ios user soooo... Yeah. Great article
ReplyDeleteyes beta is for android only. the "real-deal" will be a week or so latter
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to join

ReplyDeleteYeah, same here, I'm an iOS user as well
ReplyDeleteActually, today on WWDC they said that betas will be available for free in App Store for iOS 8.If you want to have iOS 8,you can either install the beta version, which is out today,or wait until this autumn for official release.
ReplyDeleteThat's betas of iOS 8, not betas of Minecraft.
ReplyDeleteI know, but MCPE betas will probably won't be until this autumn, when iOS 8 is officialy released.

ReplyDeleteIn the article it says they might come in the next week... not in autumn
ReplyDeleteMCPE betas won't be out at all for iOS, Tommaso said the iOS beta testing only supports 1,000 members so he won't do them.
ReplyDeleteJohan tweeted the snapshot might be released this week.
