Minecraft Realms is Mojang's server hosting service, which allows anyone to easily host their own private Minecraft PC server for $13 a month. It's designed for people who don't want to/cant learn how to manually create a server using the official server program or alternatives like Bukkit.
Realms just got an awesome feature: you can now upload your Minecraft PC worlds to your Realms server. Previously you could only download your Realms server, so this is a pretty big improvement. The Mojang support twitter account posted this earlier:
