Minecraft has been long-revered as the most successful indie game of all time, but now it claims an even bigger title. Minecraft: PC Edition has passed Diablo III and World of Warcraft as the most popular PC game of all time, topping out at 16 million copies sold worldwide.
Interestingly enough, Minecraft PC is becoming eclipsed in number of downloads (not sales) by it's counterparts on other platforms. Minecraft Pocket Edition recently passed 16.5 million downloads, and Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is closing in at 12 million copies purchased. See the source link for more information.
