Minecraft PC demoed running on Android by BlockLauncher developer

Back in October of last year, Mojang revealed they tried to replace Minecraft Pocket Edition and port PC Edition to Android and iPhone. While that was unsuccessful, it seems like another developer managed to get it working. It's still much slower than MCPE, but still fascinating.

The game is running on Google's 2012-model Nexus 7 tablet, which is a bit slower than newer Android tablets. It would be interesting to see this running on Nvidia's Shield Tablet, which is about the fastest Android device on the market right now. The game was ported to Android by Zhuowei Zhang, developer of Block Launcher for Android.  Hopefully we will get to play with this in the near future.

  3. My Nexus 7 2012 is super laggy, I don't know how people still use those things.

  4. So, if you "can" play the PC version on mobile, why don't they work on making it smoother and playable?

  5. Because you can't really play it. The video is on a flat world using a device that was high-end a year ago. It just won't work on older devices.

  7. In survival mode, when the blocks lag on single player.. that's what it does on a Toshiba Tecra m2, with 512MB RAM, 1.4GHz single core CPU. And it's from 2004. I think with a lot of optimization, it could work beautifully on (modern) android devices, and at least with the quality shown on older ones.
