Shawn Levy, director of Night At the Museum and Real Steel, leaves Minecraft movie project

Very few details about the Minecraft movie that Notch wanted to leak have actually been announced, but today a bit of information dropped - director Shawn Levy has left the project. Shawn Levy is a well-known director, famous for producing all Night At the Museum movies, Real Steel, The Pink Panther 2, and several others.

Levy, along with writers Kieran Mulroney and Michele Mulroney, left the project over ideas that "didn’t mesh with what the video game developers were looking for.” Reportedly, producers Roy Lee (The Lego Movie) and Jill Messick (Mean Girls) are still working on the movie.

As said earlier, it's too early to tell what exactly the Minecraft movie will be about. Just like The Lego Movie that Warner Bros released earlier this year, Minecraft doesn't have a definite story line. SlashFilm reports it is likely to be a live-action movie. See the source link for the full details.

  6. Yeah, live action will look stupid, unless it's involving whatever it's called when they mix CGI and live-action.
