Minecraft PC coming to the Windows Store

Three years ago, then-Mojang CEO Markus Persson (aka Notch) denounced Microsoft for announcing the Windows Store, an easy way to find Windows applications included with Windows 8. He thought that the Windows Store would put an end to other games/app stores already existing on PC. He spoke out against the Windows Store, saying "[Xbox] and iOS are proprietary platforms. PC is an open platform that I don't want anyone to be able to close down."

Today Microsoft announced dozens of new products and updates at their Build 2015 conference, and Windows Store was one of the announcements. Until now, only 'Metro' applications have been allowed on the Windows Store, leaving out most PC games and applications. Today Microsoft unveiled that the new Windows Store would allow all Windows programs and games - truely making the store a one-stop shop for all your needs.

And in yet another appearance in Microsoft videos, Minecraft was shown in a preview video uploaded to YouTube today. It was only seen for a second, but does (probably) confirm Minecraft will make an appearance in the Windows Store.

It's not clear if a different launcher will be included with the Windows Store version, or if it will be exactly like the current Windows version. Either way, it's another way to get Minecraft on a Windows PC.
