Minecraft Wii U Edition will support Voice Chat and the Wii U Pro Controller

The Wii U just passed the ripe old age of three years, but a surprising lack of major games support the console's microphone for online play. This is mostly due to Nintendo's huge control on online content to ensure a 'family-friendly' game console. For example, in Mario Kart 8 you can only talk in lobbies while the game starts, but it goes silent during the actual races. I'll let you be the judge if that hurt the Wii U's 3rd party support.

The page for Minecraft: Wii U Edition has already appeared on the Japanese eShop (the Wii U and 3DS's 'app store'). The listing reveals that Wii U Edition will support Voice Chat, USB keyboards, and the Wii U Pro Controller (a gamepad very similar to the Xbox/PlayStation controllers). USB keyboard support is likely just used for typing in the chat similar to the other console editions, not for actual controls.
