Minecraft Wii U Edition world size the same as Xbox 360/PS3 Edition

Now that Minecraft: Wii U Edition is getting into the hands of actual gamers, we're starting to see the first complaints from the long-awaited port. The most apparent problem with the game? The world size.

Linkums on YouTube posted a video showing the true size of worlds on Wii U Edition, as linked in the source link below. It shows him flying from one end of the world to the other, confirming the maximum world size is a measly 862 by 862 blocks. This is the exact same world size of Minecraft PS3 and Xbox 360 Editions, despite the Wii U belonging to the latest generation of consoles (alongside the Xbox One and PS4).

But why is the world that small? Some people might believe the Wii U's paltry 2GB of RAM (memory) is to blame, when the Xbox One and PS4 both have 8GB of RAM. But RAM only determines how many chunks of the world can be loaded in at once. My best guess is the Wii U has a limitation on how big games' save files can be.

It's not really clear if this was a technical limitation or just a lazy port by 4J Studios. Either way, I could see this hurting Wii U sales in the future.
