Mojang celebrates Chinese New Year with 'Journey to the West' skins

The Chinese New Year is already in it's second day, and Mojang has released a new skin pack for Minecraft: Pocket Edition and Windows 10 Edition. The new pack, 'Journey to the West', is based on characters from a 16th century Chinese novel with the same name. Two skins are available for free, with the rest being sold for $1.99.

I don't expect there's a huge crossover between people who play Minecraft, and people that know their classic Chinese literature, but the story is actually very interesting. The novel is a retelling of the legendary pilgrimage of the  monk Xuanzang who traveled to the "Western Regions" (aka Central Asia and India) to obtain sacred texts and returned after many trials. The story is mixed with mythology and ancient Chinese forklore, and is widely regarded as one of the best examples of Chinese literature.

Let us know in the comments if you've bought the pack!
