Minecraft PC is in a pretty big release gap right now, if you haven't noticed. The last major update, 1.8, was released almost a year ago (September 7th, 2014) - and the only snapshot this entire year was this years' April Fools joke. There was a chance we could see the first 1.9 snapshots during (or shortly after) Minecon, but that never came to fruitition.
Nathan Adams, a developer of Minecraft: PC Edition, broke the bad news over Twitter today that there won't be any 1.9 snapshots this week. Take a look:

Minecraft PC is seemingly taking a back seat to the ramped-up development cycle of Minecraft: Pocket Edition and Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition. Minecraft PC 1.9, called the 'Combat Update', will completely revamp combat and The End among other things.
