Today marks the one-year anniversary of the Mojang purchase

Exactly one year ago today, Mojang went public with their purchase by Microsoft. Reactions were mixed at the time, ranging from optimism that Mojang would help speed along development to cries of horror as their favorite game would be destroyed. But it's one year later, and what's happened?

To their credit, Microsoft has done everything they can to keep the Minecraft fanbase happy. They have not intervened in Minecraft PC development (that has been reported, at least), which was probably the biggest concern at the time. They have actually sped up Pocket Edition development by having a Microsoft team working with Mojang. And all the console versions have stayed on all platforms (not Xbox exclusive).

Microsoft and Mojang worked together to port Minecraft PE to Windows 10, in the form of MC Windows 10 Edition. Right now it's still in beta and doesn't have many features, but with W10 Edition and Pocket Edition being worked on together at the same time, it's greatly helping both editions.

Has Microsoft done anything bad for Mojang? Honestly, I can't think of one. It's hard to say if the future Minecraft movie will be a hit, but talks of a Minecraft film were in progress long before Microsoft bought them.
