I'm not exactly sure of how New Year's is celebrated around the world, but here in 'merica we celebrate by shooting off as many fireworks as possible for up to a week after 2013 begins. Even if that's not your cup of tea, you will still be able to shoot off some fireworks to end the year....yes, in Minecraft. Jeb shared on Twitter the above screenshot and the promise of, "colors, fade, flight height, effects and shapes are craftable." No snapshot was released today, but we can hope that one will come soon.
