4J Studios is very quiet about updates, so this announcement was somewhat of a surprise. They took to Twitter yesterday to talk about the TU14 update (Title Update 14) for Minecraft for PS3/Xbox 360, saying "We're working through the TU14 bugs. The list is getting shorter every day :) Not too long to go now..." The TU14 update will also be the first version to be released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, despite Minecraft originally slated to be a PS4 launch title.
Many have been asking us when texture packs for Minecraft: PS3 Edition are expected, and 4J Studios has finally answered. They tweeted "We're aiming to release one or two PS3 texture packs at the same time as the TU14 update for PS3". The TU14 update is currently estimated to be released around May - June, but that is our own estimate and may change based on what 4J says.
