MCPE 0.9.0 likely won't be released in Q1 2014

mcpe_wolf

Back in October, Pocket Edition developer Johan said on Reddit that Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.9.0 would be planned for release in Q1 2014. That meant that 0.9.0 was planned for release in the first fiscal quarter 2014, which lasts from January 1st to March 31st. But with every passing day it looks like 0.9.0 won't meet that deadline.

Why do we think this? Well there are plenty of features for MCPE 0.9.0 that haven't been shown in development, for example custom skins and most of the new biomes. In addition, we would likely see several betas for Android around two weeks before release (which has yet to happen for 0.9.0). Despite their original release date timeframe has almost passed by, Mojang has yet to announce a more accurate release date.

We have changed our estimated release date to April - May 2014 (on the sidebar) to reflect the current development status of MCPE, and will continue to update it based on change in development pace. However, a later release would't be so bad. A later release date means Mojang has enough time to polish the release, which is important because it will most likely be the last alpha release (unless things change 1.0 will probably be the first beta). MCPE 0.9.0 will be the biggest update Pocket Edition has ever received, but it looks like it might take the longest.

Oh if 0.9.0 will be mcpe' s biggest update ever they should name the update like in PC. 3 names a chose is: The Update that changed MCPE, The New world update, or The New face of mcpe.

There isn't a beta testing for the Kindle Fire, Amazon doesn't have a beta testing system that Mojang can use.

Well, at least we don't get a big surprise when it probably won't come out later this month. I'm trying to say, if it had been later in March and we expected an update, people would've been mad or sad, or something along those lines.

The devs already stated last year that 0.9.0 wasn't probably coming in the first quarter. That's why they're saying they're trying to get it out in April which is the first month of the second quarter.

That's not bad. Would you rather have an buggy full version or an near to no bug full version? Longer is better in some cases. And this is one of them. Also, I think the beta is coming mid to late March because the devs said they're trying to get 0.9 out in April :)

Well if you look at it not only will there be infinite worlds, but more world size choices, New mobs, New biomes (what I'm pumped for.), New generated structures, New blocks and items, New mechanics, new controls, New inventory, and now we will have a new look on mcpe. I bet you that once 0.9.0 is out, loads of people will want to get this game and finally we will see less people saying mcpe sucks.

Well my friend.... Jeb stated that his best prediction for the 0.9.0 release would be by May, but true, if we wait 0.9.0 will be less buggy and bigger.

Hey guys! I have AWESOME news for those who have iDevices! Apple just bought a company, and that company had an app called TestFlight. So it makes betas much easier, forget all those apple IDs. It's not in the app store yet, but my point is that most likely we'll have betas for 0.9.0. And finally iDevices may get it. :)

I don't think you understood the article. Apple hasn't done anything with the TestFlight technology yet, and Mojang probably won't make betas for iOS anyways because they only have to test it on the few Apple devices. There won't be iOS betas for 0.9.0, or probably ever.
