4J Studios has been rather quiet recently, even more so than usual. But today they confirmed a bit of information that many have been asking. Responding to a user on Twitter, they said:
So while the world size will likely be enough for most people, some are sure to be disappointed that it's not infinite. The less-than-spectacular specs of the Xbox One and PS4 are likely to fault for this.
Other details about the next-gen ports of Minecraft, like the max number of players in a world, remain unknown. Minecraft Pocket Edition is slated to receive infinite worlds in 0.9.0. There is still no date for the Xbox One, PS4, or Vita editions of Minecraft.

Working with Sony/Microsoft on world size – not "infinite" due to save size limits, but a lot bigger than PS3/Xbox 360.
