Minecraft PE 0.9.0 Build 2 released, beta passes 50,000 members

Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.9.0 is the biggest update yet, so it's no surprise people want to get their hands on it and sacrifice stability. Today the MCPE 0.9.0 beta program just passed 50,000 members as indicated on it's Community page. Take into comparison that Apple limits their betas to 1,000 members when it arrives in iOS 8.

The second beta build of 0.9.0 also arrived today, featuring bug fixes and a few new minor features. Mob spawners and villager eggs can now be found in the creative inventory, and mobs now make sounds. Check out the full change log:

Bug Fixes:

  • Worlds don't get stuck anymore during loading

  • Fixed a subtle crash + world corruption

  • Fixed a possible crash on quit

  • Removed the horrible grey quad on split controls

  • Crops don't flicker anymore while walking

  • Added name to Podzol

  • Desert villages are now made of sandstone

  • Fire dies out faster in Jungle and Roofed Forest (to prevent runaway fires)

  • Fixed black borders in Flat Worlds on Chunk 0,0

  • Red sand doesn't transform anymore in normal sand when falling

  • Mobs aren't blue anymore when render distance 64 is selected

  • Putting glowstone under blocks doesn't rotate their texture anymore

  • Mushrooms don't glow anymore

  • Diorite, Granite and Andesite drop the correct resource type

  • Dark oak and Acacia leaves and trunks now catch fire

  • You can now place torches on Mob Spawners

  • Mob Spawners are saved now


Tweaks:

  • Added sounds to all new mobs (Villagers, Slimes, Wolves, Endermen)

  • Added Mob Spawners to creative

  • You can change a Mob Spawner mob type using Eggs

  • Added Villager eggs

  • Endermen now teleport out of the way of arrows

  • Increased network protocol number (build 1 can't connect to build 2)
