Minecraft PE beta about to be released, here's how to get it

Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.9.0 is about to release it's first beta for Android users, and it's only a few hours from release at the most. The developers are fixing the last bugs and preparing for release, while over 10,000 have already joined the beta program (including yours truely). Here's how to get in.

You will need:

  • Phone or tablet with Android 4.0 or higher, with the Google Play Store (sorry Kindle owners)

  • Google Plus account that has purchased Minecraft PE on the Play Store

Instructions:

  1. Make sure you are logged into Google Plus on your computer (these instructions sometimes don't work on mobile, if you can do them on a computer) and go to this link.

  2. Click the 'Join Community' button at the top.

  3. Below the name of the community on the left side, click the gear/settings icon and uncheck "Show posts in Home Stream." If you use Google Plus at all and you leave this checked, your stream will be filled with spam from the community (mostly people with no patience asking when it's coming out and spam).

  4. Click this link and click "Become a tester."

You're done! When the first beta is released it will show up as an update on your device(s). We will post videos of the beta when it reaches us, so all we can do now is wait.

Update: Is there something in the update you really want to see? We will upload a few videos of the 0.9.0 beta on our YouTube channel, so ask us in our Minecraft Q&A page or our Ask.FM what you want to see!

Update 2: The beta has been released, if you follow these instructions you should receive an update fairly soon.
