PocketMine teases Minecraft PC/PE universal server

PocketMine is a server software for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and (jailbroken) iOS that allows you to host your own Minecraft PE external server. It works almost exactly like a Bukkit server, you can set up port-forwarding to enable anyone to access your server through the External Server functionality in Minecraft PE. It even has a huge library of plugins that make Pocket Edition servers even better, ranging from in-game currency to WorldEdit.

But PocketMine is about to get a whole lot better. Not only is a new version almost completely re-written to support 0.9.0 in development, but earlier today the developer Shoghi Cervantes tweeted the picture above. The screenshot shows the functionality of an upcoming PocketMine plugin, Big Brother, that will allow PC players to connect to Pocket Edition players. He also tweeted the below screenshot:

Something like this has never been done before, and I'm extremely excited to see where it goes. Obviously PC-only functionality (like Redstone or the new mobs) won't magically work on Pocket Edition devices or PocketMine server, but it's an amazing feature. Shoghi later said on Twitter that the plugin would be completed in around 1-2 weeks, so we should get to play with it soon. See the source link for the original tweet.
