Dinnerbone Reveals More About 1.9, Answers Questions

Though we have yet to see a serious snapshot this year, we have seen bits and pieces of what's planned for 1.9. Today, Dinnerbone gave us a bigger glimpse of the features they plan to implement in 1.9.

Earlier this morning, Dinnerbone tweeted a picture of himself dual wielding fish before an army of hungry ocelots.

He answered many questions about 1.9. Here's the highlights:

  • You will be able to dual wield items, including weapons, but you can't attack with the second weapon.

  • There will be a "lefty mode" which includes a left-sided arm viewmodel that's also visible to other players.

  • You will only see your second arm when you've got something equipped in it, or when you're using a bow or map.

  • Dinnerbone has nicknamed the "shield slot" as the "offhand slot."

  • Swords will no longer block.  Instead, shields will do the job.

Dinnerbone also mentions that nothing he's said is 100% final, so expect changes between now and the snapshots/release.
