PocketMine Server announces support for Windows 10 Edition

PocketMine-MP is the largest and most popular dedicated server software for Minecraft: Pocket Edition. It's very similar to Bukkit, supporting community-developed plugins and other features. Earlier this year, the main developer for PocketMine joined Mojang to help implement new multiplayer features in Minecraft PE.

Thankfully his new job hasn't hampered development of PocketMine, with a new major version along the way. One of the perks of working for Mojang is being able to test your server on unreleased software, as seen in the tweet below:

PocketMine has already supported every platform Minecraft: PE runs on, and the expansion to the upcoming Windows 10 Edition makes sense. Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition is based on Pocket Edition code, and every feature added to it will eventually reach Pocket (and vice-versa). Both Windows 10 Edition and Minecraft PE 0.12.0 are expected to be released at the end of this month.

The tweet also indicates support for PC Edition is coming, which is even more exciting. PocketMine currently supports PC players through the BigBrother plugin, but it's buggy and the last update was back in February.

With Microsoft heavily investing in Minecraft PE's codebase, and helping to implement features quicker, PocketMine will continue to become more popular. PocketMine is currently available to download for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and jailbroken iOS devices here.
