Minecraft Pocket Edition has been fully compatible with Amazon's $99 Fire TV media center for a while now, but Amazon also sells a cheaper (and less powerful) offering called the Fire TV Stick for a cheaper $39. Designed to compete with Google's Chromecast, it's really only designed to watch Amazon's own Prime streaming video, Netflix, Hulu, and other online media.
The Fire TV Stick runs the same modified Android system as the Fire TV, so it is possible to run Minecraft Pocket Edition. All you need is some patience and a bluetooth controller. Reddit user Systemthirtytwo wrote this tutorial on getting it running:

What you will need: - Bluetooth Controller - Copy of MCPE apk from GOOGLE PLAY ($6.99) - Blocklauncher or Blocklauncher Pro APK - AFTV app transfer app or program (AGK Fire, Fireinstaller, ADB etc.)
I will explain this in steps. Bear with me. The Amazon Fire TV stick is a fairly priced streaming stick that runs Android, allowing people to sieload applications to it. If you try to install Mincraft Pocket Edition from the store, it will say incompatible with your device. However, the FTV defi lately has enough storage/RAM to run Minecraft PE, so this guide will help you install it.
- The APK you need to send has to be from Google Play.
- Send the apk using your program (ADB, AGK Fire etc.) I will not explain this, you will have to look up a tutorial on how to send the app to the TV. Note you will need your IP address.
- After MCPE installs and is transferred to the TV, you can try to open it by going to Settings>Applications>Manage Installed Applications.
- It will not open, because the TV won't recognize it, so send a copy of Blocklauncher that is compatible with your MCPE version to the Fire TV Stick.
- At this point, make sure your Bluetooth controller is set up on the TV. (I'm using the Fire TV controller from Amazon.)
- Open Blocklauncher from the settings, and Minecraft should be compatible with the TV at this point.
Note: You will not be able to open Blocklauncher from the app page on the TV, you will have to open it directly from the settings. All apps will be able to be gotten from the Google Play Store, except ADB which you will have to install on your computer. To change key mapping, go to the MCPE settings. Also some other things that won't work are Skin Packs. You won't be able to buy in-app purchases. Custom skins will work, but you will need a copy of ES File Explorer on the TV, and the Amazon app Remote Mouse for Fire TV ($2.99). I will explain this in another post.
