After a long and turbulent development process, going all the way back to when Mojang wasn't owned by Microsoft, the Minecraft Movie now has a release date - May 24th, 2019.
Virtually no details besides the date has been revealed. The movie will be also be released in 3D and IMAX showings.
In my opinion, the 2019 release date makes it very difficult to be excited - and Mojang is hoping Minecraft will still be as popular in three years as it is now. It's also going up against major films like Indiana Jones 5, The Incredibles 2, and Justice League Part 2.
