Minecraft Pocket Edition expanded Mojang to mobile devices, but today Mojang is severing that tie by discontinuing Minecraft PE. Notch posted on his Twitter account, "Over half of the players of Minecraft PE didn't actually buy the game, and we can't keep paying for it's development." He continued, "So we are shutting down Minecraft PE. It will be removed from the App Store in a few hours or so."
Minecraft Pocket Edition players are in an outrage, blaming developer Jens and Tommaso for never releasing 0.9.0. About an hour later, Tommaso confirmed that 0.9.0 will never be released to the public. There are already dozens of petitions to Mojang by Pocket Edition players, asking them to resume development on Pocket Edition. See the source link for more information.
