Minecraft PE Beta passes 80,000 members, fake APKs spreading online

Mojang's Minecraft PE beta program has become increasingly popular, with today marking over 80,000 active members of the beta test. As of now, there have been four builds of MCPE 0.9.0 available that have added smaller features and fixed bugs. Playing on the recent builds, it's becoming obvious that 0.9.0 is becoming more and more stable and complete. In fact, developer Johan said on Twitter the betas could be done by next week.

Unfortunately, those who have not purchased Minecraft PE on the Google Play Store are turning to downloading illegal APKs (Android app files) of the beta builds. Recently people have been sharing APKs of a '0.9.0 Build 5' which has yet to be released by Mojang. They usually share photoshopped screenshots (shown above) to prove they have it. Many of these APKs include malware or viruses that can not only harm your device, but also steal your private information.

As always, we warn our readers to never install applications outside the Google Play Store unless you are willing to face these issues should they arise. And never pirate any edition of Minecraft, show Mojang you care about their game by buying it.
