It seems like Minecraft being featured in the commercial for Microsoft's new tablet is just the beginning of Minecraft's role in the company. NeoWin reported earlier today that the first update to Windows 10 (which is being released this summer as a free upgrade for Windows 7 and 8.1 users) has the internal codename 'Redstone'.
It should go without saying that Redstone is an item in Minecraft, heavily used in machines and automated systems in Minecraft. Besides a simple reference to Minecraft, this doesn't mean anything - the codenames for Microsoft's products don't give any hints. For example, Windows Vista was codenamed 'Longhorn', Windows 7 was called 'Blackcomb', and Windows 10 was named 'Threshold'.
The only detail Microsoft revealed about 'Redstone' is that it will arrive sometime in 2016, and will likely be a minor update to Windows 10 (similar to Windows 8.1 to 8.0).
