Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.12.0 released early on Amazon App Store, possibly by accident

The Amazon Appstore is one of the few places you can download Minecraft: Pocket Edition (well, officially anyways...), and the only place you can get it if you have one of Amazon's Kindle Fire devices or some other Android device without the Google Play Store. Amazon has been spotty with releasing MCPE updates alongside the Play Store/Apple App Store, in some cases even taking a week or two to approve the update.

This time, either by Mojang's mistake or Amazon's, Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.12 is available on the Amazon Appstore before any other place. MCPE 0.11 is still the latest version on the Play Store and Apple App Store, so Amazon Appstore users get their fix of Nether and cross-platform play before anyone else. Here's the full changelog from Amazon:

  • The Nether and all its inhabitants. Fight Ghasts and make friends with Pigmen

  • Cross platform play for up to five players between Pocket Edition and Windows 10

  • Revamped touch controls, controller support, and a controller mapping screen

  • Enhanced Weather effects! Accumulating snow and more

  • Ocelots! Try taming one with a fish

  • Experience, Anvils, Brewing, and enchantments. Time to up your game, crafter

  • Golems. We recommend you approach with caution

  • Flower pots. We recommend you fill them with flowers

  • Sneaking and sprinting! Express yourself through movement!

  • Loads of bug fixes that are too boring to list here

  • Lots, lots more!

If you have an Android device and you desperately want to try 0.12 immediately, you can get it from the source link below. Although it's worth noting that it will probably show up on the Play Store in a day or two.
