Stone cutter is being removed from Minecraft: Pocket Edition and W10 Edition

Minecraft: Pocket Edition, per Mojang's and Microsoft's goal, is moving towards feature parity with the PC version. Part of this means getting rid of it's unique features - one example is the Nether Reactor being replaced by a real Nether and Nether Portal in MCPE 0.12. It looks like the next feature to reach the chopping block is the Stone cutter.

For the uninitiated, the stone cutter was an item in Minecraft PE and Minecraft Windows 10 Edition to create stone-based items. This included stone bricks, sandstone, brick stairs, etc. If it sounds pointless, it is - the same exact thing is done with the crafting table on all other versions of Minecraft. Although it was not explicitly stated, it's safe to assume it will be removed from Windows 10 Edition as well since they are developed together.

It makes sense for the Stone cutter to be removed, players new to MCPE had difficulty finding out exaclty what could be crafted with the Stone cutter, and what the crafting table could craft. Personally, this is one feature removal I won't cry over.
